No news is good news

We met with another cardiologist today. A very nice man recommended independently by two doctors. He checked Zora out and said things are OK for now. Odds are that Zora will need heart surgery at some point in her life. But it most likely won’t be in the next few weeks.

The peak danger period for the vegetal growth breaking off has passed. There’s still a chance, of course. But it’s not a chance for which you perform open-heart surgery.

The heart regurgitation is a problem, but shouldn’t be acted on until it becomes an outwardly noticeable problem. Indications include being very short of breath after walking up a flight of stairs, for instance. In the meantime, the antibiotics need to run their course and Zora can and should resume her normal activities, including walking and biking.

The only downside is this doctor doesn’t take insurance. So he costs a pretty penny (60,000 of them, in fact). But we like him. Zora’s next check up with him is going to be in two weeks.

So from now on, no news is good news!
